02/03/2022 - Meeting Minutes

The meeting opened at 12:15 as Bill Petersen welcomed Chamber Members. Thanks to Smithfield McDonald’s for hosting the February meeting.

Business Reviews

McDonald’s (Bill Petersen) - Starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel with employees and feeling good about things. Still looking for good employees. Look for Menu Hacks on the app and one the menu - order separate items and stack them together.

Farmers Insurance (Wayne Elwood) - Brought some goodies - celebrating 17th anniversary of business here in Smithfield. Looking for office help as well - down to Wayne and Elese. Look at insurance rates and come see them for discounts on home and auto. Looking for new products coming out in April.

Family Place (Maria Lopez) - Celebrating 40 years of The Family Place this year. Fry Street Quartet doing a concert on Feb 18th - $100 tickets to go towards The Family Place. Play with the Family Place on Feb 12th as well as Princess Party on Feb 26th. Two sessions at Castle Manor. Tickets are $20 with a possible $10 goodie bag add on.

Smithfield Stone Fire Pizzeria - formerly Smithfield Firehouse (Kim Tippetts, Jim Tippetts) - Rebranding to keep separation from Firehouse Pizzeria. Same menu, new name! Thanks for your support!

My Utah Agents (Brooklyn Tippetts) - New real estate license. Buying or selling houses - give her a call! Alpine Cleaning and Restoration (Wayne Moore) - make sure you know where your water shut off is - turn it off while on vacation to avoid problems. Can help with water, smoke, fire, sewage damage.

Lions Club (Deon Hunsaker) - gearing up for baseball season and Blue Sox concessions. Proceeds help support Blue Sox and Lion’s Club causes. Will be donating a braille copy of the US Constitution - available for schools to see if wanted.

Smithfield City (Deon Hunsaker) - still growing. New mayor and new council members. All are welcome at meetings.

Schreiber Foods (Scott Nelson) - Still hiring. Great jobs for college kids with tuition assistance and flexible shifts. Will put in a plug for Fry Street Quartet concert for The Family Place - Great date night.

Discovery Area Guides (Jack Johnson) - Looking to add the North Cache edition to all their other local guides - include history, things to do, business guides. Will have online presence as well. Contact him for more information.

Lee’s Marketplace (Kevin Humphries) - Super Bowl always a busy time. Valentines is always big. Herriman store opening later this month. Hoping to start work on the Richmond store this spring for a late fall opening. Case lot coming in early March.

Sunrise Elementary (Derek Beer) - Seen an uptick on hiring and starting to get fully staffed. Transitioning to the shortened schedule. Last two week has seen 90-140 kids out every day. Ready for golf tournament in May.

Stapley Accounting Services (Terri Stapley) - Look for letters from the IRS on stimulus payments and advance child tax credits. Looking for an assistant.

Atlas Internet Marketing (Matt Veil) - Rebranding is a lot of work! Working on saving time for companies with automated systems - chat, text messaging.

Eazy Breezy Duct Cleaning (Katie Veil) - check furnace filter and change it if necessary! They clean all the ducts in your home.

Elevate Pest Control (Paul Jenkins) - try to protect property from mice and rodents. Also be careful of bedbugs when traveling. Also has a DJ company that is available for events - loves to give back to the community. Trying to make a difference in the community. Has an ambulance and is trying to promote mental health services. Developing a website to help give ideas for services.

Sky View High School (Phil Morris) - Thanks to Night of Giving - student was able to get new shoes for a new job. Appreciate all the community support. Lots going on - winter sports. Missing 20-30% students each day.

Sierra Restoration (Mel Williams) - Just graduated from USU in global communications. Excited to get to work and meet everyone. Give them a call if you have any needs.

Membership Dues

We have your window clings. Also we want to grow our chamber. Try and think of someone who might be interested in joining us and invite them to our meeting.

Easter Egg Hunt

April 16th at Mack Park. Let Nicole know how many eggs you would like to have stuffed.

Golf Tournament

Golf Tournament is finalized for May 4th - shotgun starts at 9 am. We will be contacting regarding details. Note that there is no fee for Chamber members to host a Hole Sponsorship.

Pancake Breakfast

May 14th. Do we want to try one more year to see how it goes? We did learn alot from last year. Vote of Chamber Members was yes, we want to do it for at least one more year. We can advertise and make positive changes.
Look for a new vendor at the Golf Course - perhaps Justin Hamilton? Eric will let us know. Next newsletter deadline is March 15th - will advertise for Easter Egg Hunt, Golf Tournament and Pancake Breakfast.
