03/02/2023 - Meeting Minutes

The meeting opened at 12:12 pm as Bill Petersen welcomed Chamber Members. Thanks to Stonefire Pizzeria for hosting the meeting.

Business Reviews:

Evergreen Medical Wellness (Liz Worley) - Up and running for any medical care issues. She can help with any primary care issues, hormone optimization, joint help. Check her website at evergreenmedwell.com. She is located at Smithfield Chiropractic, just southwest of Lee’s Marketplace.

Preston Watts Collision and Glass (Josh Watts) - It’s been quite a fun month! Lots of business with accidents. Knock on wood for less snow this month. Get your windshield replaced now! They waive $100 off the deductible.

Stone Fire Pizzeria (Kim Tippetts, Jim Tippetts) - Thank you for joining them today! Had a great Valentine’s Day weekend. Celebrating Easter with Cadbury Egg skookies as a treat for Chamber members. Will be redoing their menu to add pictures - using Becca Dority for design work (former Smithfield resident). Hiring is great.

USU Credit Union (Trevor Larsen) - Will be filling in for Riley. Rates are on the rise, including CD rates so go see them. Their 13- and 23- month have a rate bump as well. Looking to partner with local businesses to see what financial services that you might need. No fee or any exclusive contracts. Let him know.

Family Place (Dal Sellars) - Really good turnout to Princess Party. Great, positive event. Thank you for your support! On March 18th there will be a Minority Resource Fair at Bridger Elementary from 11 am - 1 pm. April is Child Abuse Awareness Month and their Blue Ribbon Dinner/Auction. They are looking for sponsors or donations for the auction.

Sky View High School (Brady Fonnesbeck) - Congrats to the Boys Basketball team for their State Championship; girls were runner-up. Started the 3rd Trimester. Spring sports are starting. Gearing up for the end of the new year. Had a great Once Upon a Mattress play last month. Thanks for the chance to be part of the community.

Farmers Insurance (Wayne Elwood, Payton Knudsen) - Dryer vents are the most flammable thing in your house. Get those cleaned! Be aware of flooding and check your insurance for flood policies. Can also help with life insurance.

Stapley Accounting Services (Terri Stapley) - Tax season is here so they are super busy with business and personal returns. They are located behind Lee’s. Great time to start planning for next tax year.

Smithfield Recreation (Richard Varela) - Super Busy. Competitive Leagues started this week - 70 teams will be in and out. March is the busiest time for them! Health Days is coming up - booth? Parade? Always needing volunteers but is looking for help in pulling floats in the parade. Looking to change the date of the trail run due to the snow so look for that new date.

Schreiber Foods (Scott Nelson) - Cheese is still coming off the lines! Still hiring for great jobs - flexible shifts. Also, please support the Family Place Blue Ribbon Benefit next month.

Cache Valley Light and Sound and Elevate Pest Control (Paul Jenkins)- Helped the Family Place and Night of Dinner as far as fundraiser. Was able to help Mountain Crest and CAPSA as well. Also looking for a concert fundraiser for the Suicide Prevention. Would love to do a Daddy/Daughter dance fundraiser in the north end of the valley - if you have any ideas for a venue let him know! Also he DJ's at wedding receptions!

Summit Elementary (Aimee McNeil)- Parent Teacher Conferences today and tomorrow. Thank you for everything and looking forward to the golf tournament. FYI - Rigo Chaparro will be honored as a Super Supporter of the schools at the School District tonight.

Birch Creek Golf Course (Eric Kleven) - Still closed. :)

Easy Breezy Pro’s (Katie Veil) - Now doing air duct, dryer vent and carpet cleaning! Allergy season is coming up - they can help you clean your ducts and carpets. If you get your air ducts cleaned, she will throw in a dryer vent cleaning for free!

Birch Creek Elementary (Trudy Wilson)- Lots of wet kids from the playground. Thanks for all you do. Excited for the golf tournament.

Smithfield Lions (Deon Hunsaker)- Service Project in March - cleaning, sorting and testing eyeglasses. Partnering with Weber State and Primary Children’s Hospital on a camp for families of kids with diabetes - the first one is in April. April 29th will be working with Sleep in Heavenly Peace to make beds. Come to the Blue Sox games and support the concession stands. Look for their spaghetti dinner in April. Thanks for the support for the blood drive - another one coming in May.

Smithfield City (Deon Hunsaker) - Smithfield Day of Service is April 29th. They will be utilizing the Just Serve app to allow people to sign up for different projects.

McDonalds (Bill Petersen, Toni Wood) - Couple of new things coming - Bacon Ranch Crispy Chicken Sandwich coming back. Also Ready on Arrival through the app will use geo services to get your order faster and fresher. Love partnering with schools for McTeacher Nights - teachers and coaches come and help and they donate 25% to the school.

Other Items

  1. Membership dues - Email went out last month. If you need another invoice let Nicole know. We have your window clings.
  2. Next newsletter in April - deadline is March 9th. It will include the Easter Egg Hunt and the Golf Tournament. $100 for an ad.
  3. Easter Egg Hunt is April 8th. Let us know how many eggs you want stuffed. We have lists of what you did last year if you need a reminder. If you want us to stuff your eggs we need numbers by March 15th. We are looking for alternatives for locations in case of snow not being melted.
  4. Pancake Breakfast will be May 13th. Will probably increase costs but not more than a dollar. We want to continue to provide scholarships to high school students. We will need help to set up, cook and clean up.
  5. The Tri School Golf Tournament is finalized for May 17th. If you would like to be a hole sponsor - there is no charge for chamber members. If you would like a team or make a donation, let us know. Due to the late date of the golf tournament, we will have our regular meeting on May 4th. We will keep you updated on our events.
