09/05/2024 - Meeting Minutes
AGENDA NOTES
The meeting opened at 12:05 as Aimee McNeil welcomed Chamber Members. Thanks to Alpine Cleaning and Restoration for hosting the meeting and Stonefire Pizza for the delicious food.
Business Reviews
Stonefire Pizza - Thank you to everyone for their support, particularly at their Olympic Watch Party last month. They are also still looking for raffle prizes to help with their benefit (they sent out an email regarding this last week). Contact them if you have something to contribute.
The Second Act Literacy Foundation (Steve Cook)- They are an Idaho based 501c3 that serves all of Cache Valley to help high school dropouts get their GED. Joining the Chamber to get to know
Cache Valley Light and Sound (Paul Jenkins) - Working with Suicide Coalition and other partners to help get the word out to prevent suicide. Also does music for weddings and other events. Give him a call.
Organizing by Aubri Anne (Aubri Anne Meek) - New home organization business. Excited to meet people and get involved.
McDonalds (Bill Peterson, Toni Woods) - They love school in session - lots of business for them. They are in value mode; they have a $5 bundle and some new products coming - a Chicken Big Mac and some other things. They have Archways to Opportunity to support their employees.
Sunrise Elementary (Shellie Healy) - Starting third year at Sunrise. All the elementary schools are hiring literacy aides so if you know of anyone who would be interested, send them their way.
Tom Gibbons Accounting (Tom Gibbons) - Partially retired but doing taxes as well.
RJW Graphics (Ben Wagner) - Just moved here from Chicago and started a business for print and signage. They do any kind of printing and are happy to help with your printing needs.
Atlas Internet Marketing (Matt Veil) - AI is here to stay and makes online marketing more difficult. Working with businesses to bridge the gap and help with customer retention and growing businesses.
Alpine Cleaning and Restoration (Wayne Moore) - They take care of fire, water, mold and wind cleanup. Please make plans to blow out your sprinklers and to disconnect hoses from your house to protect your house over the winter.
Preston Watts Collision and Glass (Josh Watts) - Lots of kids on the road and they are keeping busy. They are waiving $100 deductible for windshield replacement. They work with all insurance companies and want to make the process as easy as possible for you.
Schreiber Foods (Scott Nelson) - Always hiring. Average wage is about $30 an hour. Send anyone looking for a job their way. Will need 300 more people in the next five years.
Birch Creek Elementary (Trudy Wilson) - Bursting at the seams this year; they have had the most growth this year. Having all day kindergarten is fun but a lot of work!
Summit Elementary (Aimee McNeil) - Starting a new year - alot going on. Thank you to the Chamber for all the fundraising help with their families in need.
Smithfield Recreation (Richard Varela, Ed Hanes) - Very busy summer and going full steam ahead with fall. They have been remodeling and have new flooring and equipment. Some fun events are coming up, still doing fall sports and group fitness. Approved for another full time staff member which is sorely needed. IF you are interested in sponsoring events or sports, let Richard know and they can customize a package for you. If you want to put anything in Turkey Trot race bags, let them know (no fee for chamber members).
Zions Bank (Teresa Gwilliam) - Business credit card with $1000 cash back with a $5000 spend. Also giving new business accounts $500 cash back. Also help with SBA and business loans.
Whole Body Health Care (Zach Manwaring)- It is the end of an era - Dr. Morgan Carlsen has officially retired from their practice. They have a replacement and are seeing lots of people, especially with youth sports in the valley.
Sky View (Shane Jones) - Growing and growing along with the community. Happy to be here to support the Chamber.
Farmers Insurance (Payden Knudsen) - Have moved over to Tom Gibbons old office; Payden has taken over the agency as Wayne Elwood retired. Thank you to those who have supported them through the process.
Host Huski (Andrew Davis) - They help with everything on your website - making it more attractive, faster and safer. New client is North Logan Library to help them. They do business emails and domain registration.
President Elect Darryl Simmons - Enjoying the vibe of the Chamber. Please invite anyone you think might be interested. The more people that are involved the more we can accomplish.
USU Credit Union (Trevor Larsen) - Anyone 13-25 can participate in their Youth Engagement Program to start them with financial literacy and working with accounts. They also pay $2 for every A.
Cache Valley Bank (Danny Hansen, Zane Johnson)- Rates are down, it is a good time to look at a loan. Next Wednesday (September 11th) is their 3rd Anniversary Celebration so come join them after the Sky View Homecoming Parade and have dinner. They are also working with businesses to get their credit card fees down. And if you bring in a statement for a quotation, you get free movie tickets.
Calendar
- The next deadline for a newsletter ad is October 15th, newsletter will go out in November. The cost of an ad is $100 and includes a social media ad.
- Night of Giving - Saturday, December 7th. Tickets are $40 a person; we have tables that hold 12, 10 and 8 if you would like to reserve a table. This year's theme is Believe. If you are submitting names, please try and get them in early so we can accommodate as many names as possible. There is a quick turnaround this year since the event is later in the month. We sold out last year so if you are interested in tickets or a table, let us know ASAP. We discussed the idea to raise the ticket or package prices - would it deter some people from coming? We want to keep it accessible to the community. We will look at increasing ticket/package prices.
- Trick or Treat Street - They have four open doors for the event; each door is $80 (one time cost). The doors will not have a logo but you can bring your own signage for the door. Let them know by September 13th. The event will be at Forrester Acres on October 18th from 5-9 pm. They have games and photo ops and it is a great opportunity to teach your kids the safe way to trick or treat on Halloween. They expect about 1000 kids so plan for candy accordingly.
