Business Introductions and Reviews

Berryhill Physical Therapy - Have a brand new building and are ready for an open house! Come see them on Thursday, September 9th from 5-8 pm. They will have Zone drinks and cookies. Tour their facilities and sign up to win some great prizes (including a $500 gift card). Parking will be available in the Smithfield City parking lot.

Alpine Cleaning and Restoration - Looking to hire! Start at $15 an hour. Referral bonus if the employee stays for 3 months and then 6 months.

Family Place - Their golf tournament in August raised $115,000! Thanks to Schreiber for being a great partner and for all the support from Chamber members. Their next big event is their Marvelous Adventure - a drive thru event where kids can interact with superheroes and get a goody bag! Tickets are $20 and available on their website. Looking for sponsors of their superheroes ($250, you receive marketing at the event) and volunteers to dress up.

Smithfield Firehouse - New menu with lots of new items (two new salads, pastas, pizzas and breads). Looking to hire - especially for days.

Gibbons Accounting - Tax deadline coming up. Stimulus checks are not taxable! Be patient with IRS speed - very slow.

Stapley Accounting - Moved to a bigger office - by Larsen’s Mercantile. Hosting our meeting in October. If anyone needs help with taxes or books, give them a call.

Sky View High School - Back to school - COVID still happening but hoping to stay in school. Homecoming is the week of September 13-18. Parade is Sept 15th at 6 pm - contact Vanessa Hall at the school for a spot in the parade. With growth up 200 students.

Summit Elementary, Sunrise Elementary - Back to school - lots of new faces and growth. Both schools are looking to hire for after school programs (Sunrise is also hiring for days - paraprofessionals).

Cache Valley Bank - Payroll Protection Plan loans are winding down - glad to see that they have done good in the community. Celebrating their 2 year anniversary on September 15th from 6-8 pm - come get dinner and enter to win some prizes. Smithfield City - Still growing! Recent rezone of N of 400 North will add 250 homes and townhomes. Developers are responsible for putting in infrastructure.

Chamber Update

Trick or Treat Street is back! Reserve a door for a one time fee of $50. Bring plenty of treats for the trick-or-treaters. Date is October 22nd - 6-8 pm. Call Richard at the Rec Center about doors - they need to know ASAP if new entries need doors.

Pancake breakfast update - We netted $733. Feedback was mostly positive - will take time to grow the event. Need better publicity about the new location; perhaps start later because the first hour was very slow. Chamber members like the event because it gets businesses out in front of a different demographic than our other events. Drawback is that if Health Days is changed back to May, logistics will be difficult to manage if the golf tournament is the same week. We agreed to table the discussion until we know the dates of Health Days in 2022.

Night of Giving - December 4th! We are going back to our traditional dinner/raffle/live auction with an added online store where people can sponsor a child, family meal or make a donation. Theme is “Let it Snow”. Schools - we need names ASAP (the earlier the better).

Meet the Candidates - Wednesday October 6th at 6:30 pm at the Lions Lodge. Residents can meet four City Council and two Mayoral candidates to ask questions before the election.

Dates to Remember in 2021

Night of Giving - December 4th

Next Meeting: October 7th at Stapley Accounting.
