01/05/2023 - Meeting Minutes
The meeting opened at 12:10 as Bill Petersen welcomed Chamber Members. Thanks to StoneFire Pizzeria for hosting the meeting.
Business Reviews:
Alpine Cleaning and Restoration (Wayne Moore) - It’s ice dam season! If you have issues let them know and they can help clean up or advice to avoid further damage.
Stone Fire Pizzeria (Kim Tippetts, Jim Tippetts) - Thanks for coming today! Going on 34 years at this location. They appreciate all the support from the Chamber and are looking forward to 2023.
Smithfield Lions (Deon Hunsaker) - Lions Meeting is next Thursday - will be cleaning and checking eyeglasses for a humanitarian project. Looking forward to the Blue Sox season this year. Already looking forward to Night of Giving - they have their tree and decorations ready to go!
Cache Curb Appeal Green Check (Troy Teeples)- will help monitor your internet presence so that you are able to find information on your website. Curbing starts in the spring.
Smithfield City (Curtis Wall) - UDOT will be working on Main Street (putting in a new viaduct) and it will be down to 2 lanes to be careful and patient. Also the 4 way stop at Sky View will become a roundabout so look for those projects. Thanks to the Chamber for all their community support! So grateful to be able to shop for families. Looking to help with water conservation and drought resistant grass so if you are interested contact him.
Lee’s Marketplace (Kevin Humphries) - Great holiday season! Richmond store opening on May 4th! Hoping to be starting interior work in April. Egg prices are way up due to Avian Flu in the US.
Easy Breezy Duct Cleaning (Katie Veil, Matt Veil)- Do dryer vent and air duct cleaning in the valley! 2022 was a big year and looking to grow some more this year.
Smithfield Recreation (Richard Varela) - Crazy busy with youth basketball, adult basketball, competition volleyball and the Indoor Triathlon coming up. Lots of new people are working out this month. Let him know if anyone wants to give out anything to the Triathlon participants.
Family Place (Dal Sellars) - February 11th is their Princess Party and still looking for sponsors if you are interested. His job is Minority Outreach for valley residents - if you have any questions or suggestions please contact him!
Cache Valley Light and Sound and Elevate Pest Control (Paul Jenkins)- please let him know if you need pest or wasp control treatment
Business 30 (Shane Smith)- looking to scale your business portfolio and increase your revenue. Looking to help people get their businesses out and more profitable. Will have an event January 24th if anyone is interested - contact him at business30llc@gmail.com.
Cache Valley Bank (Darryl Simmons)- Interest rates are up but still a lot of room for valley growth. The bank now owns their building and some buildings adjacent to the bank. Thanks to everyone for their support!
Schreiber Foods (Scott Nelson) - Eat more cheese. Still hiring and starting at $17 an hour with lots of raises. Also, if you are interested in volunteering for the new Warming Center at the Episcopalian Church in Logan please contact them - they are looking for volunteers and funding so help those who need shelter this winter.
State Farm Insurance (Rigo Chaparro) - Works with Latino Community in Cache Valley - started a foundation that helps Latino students with scholarship opportunities. Have been able to help with close to $1,000,000 in scholarship funds (including matching funds with USU) to promote education.
Sky View High School (Shane Jones) - Lots going on - looking to redo Commons and screens and sound systems so maybe have some upgrades for next year's Night of Giving.
McDonalds (Bill Petersen) - Wages are up and still hiring!
Also we had some samples of the final copy of Discovery Area Guides from Jack Johnson. You can still get involved with the next printing so let him know.
Other Items
- Night of Giving - Please turn in receipts to Nicole. The YSA ward wrapped gifts and delivered to 21 families! So thanks to them. $4300 from our Night of Giving proceeds went towards helping families with utilities.
- Membership dues - please send Nicole an email or text when you send in your dues and she will deliver your window sticker.
