AGENDA NOTES
The meeting opened at 12:05 as Amy NcNeil welcomed Chamber Members. Thanks to Smithfield Recreation for providing lunch for our meeting today!
Business Reviews
Learning Turtle Preschool (Anita Gerber) - Commercial preschool - offer preschool classes. Busy and getting kids ready for kindergarten.
Preston Watts Collision and Glass (Josh Watts) - Thanks to your children for all the business! Make sure you get a police report for even a minor accident so that you avoid insurance issues. Waiving $100 deductibles for windshields - now is a great time to do that.
Stonefire Pizza (Corey Forman)- This month they have a Caramel Apple Skookie - tastes like an apple pie. They have a new secret menu - six new food items, two new drinks and other fun items.
Easy Breezy Cleaning (Matt Veil) - Duct and carpet cleaning is very popular and busy right now. It’s also fire season coming up - lots of cleaning that can be done to prevent issues before they start.
The Second Act Literacy Foundation (Steve Cook) - Helping the English Learning Center with teaching over 900 immigrants become good citizens and be successful in the community.
Cache Valley Light and Sound/Cache Valley Pest Control (Paul Jenkins) - Thanks to McDonalds - the night of the Howl they did a dance party at McDonalds. Thanks to Green Box Solar, Stonefire and Sunrise Elementary for their event support. Planning to do a Daddy - Daughter Dance in February with CAPSA. Let him know if you are interested in sponsoring.
Always in Bloom (Merrett Falor) - $10 bouquet for chamber members for a Veteran’s Day bouquet - can deliver Friday or Monday.
McDonalds (Bill Peterson, Toni Woods) - Not a lot of “new” news; just getting through their e coli event; back to having Quarter Pounders. Getting a new onion supplier and looking forward to rebuilding trust with their customers. Also try the new Chicken Big Mac.
The Family Place (Kaycie Allred) - Just finished our Marvelous Adventure and Hyrum Harvest fundraiser. Their Giving Trees are out and they are taking donations to help families this season.
Sky View High School (Brady Fonnesbeck) - Lots of events this time of year. Shrek the Musical is beginning. Still playing football and the Marching Band is at State in St. George. Trimester ends next Friday.
Smithfield City (Mayor Kris Monson) - The Arts Council is doing a story and outdoor market at the Library on December 2nd. Will be giving away books and having food trucks and activities. Modeled after Layton City’s event. The City is asking for a Left Turn Signal at 600 South turning left towards Sky View and hoping to get a signal turning left at 100 North towards the Temple.
Smithfield Lions Club (Deon Hunsaker) - Excited for Night of Giving. They are sponsoring a Senior Veterans Dinner on Saturday at Lions Lodge. Always looking for volunteers and new members.
Sunrise Elementary (Shellie Healy) - survived Halloween. They had a new event - Harvest Hoedown. Headed into Holiday season
Summit Elementary (Aimee McNeal) - Getting into the rhythm of the year. Looking forward to Night of Giving!
Stapley Accounting (Terri Stapley) - Year end is the best time to plan for next year.
Smithfield Recreation (Brett Daniels, Richard Varela) - So grateful for everyone’s support. Your sponsorships help them with offering lots of good programs. Still busy with their programs. Starting to close up outdoor venues. Top of Utah tournament begins tonight. Turkey Trot is coming up - still accepting items for race bags; items needed by the 18th or 19th. Trick or Treat Street - it was moved inside because of weather but was a success. If you were involved, please take the survey so they can make changes to make it a better experience for everyone. Registration is open for the Indoor Triathlon. Also register for winter basketball.
Green Box Solar (Brandon Johnson) - Storefront in Logan, next to Old Grist Mill on the south end of Logan; doing Logan installs for the past six years. Give them a call when you are ready for the investment. Also growing business customers - lots of tax incentives and grants available for businesses.
Zions Bank (Teresa Gwilliam) - Promo $1000 cash back with a $5000 spend on business credit cards. Good CD rates as well.
Whole Body Health Care (Zach Manwaring)- Acupuncture going strong - helping people with lots of fall injuries; shoveling season injuries is coming up. Working with athletes and dancers right now.
President Elect Darryl Simmons - Welcome and thank you!
USU Credit Union (Trevor Larsen) - CD rates may drop but still good. It’s a good time to refinance vehicles or other loans. They offer “skip a pay” during the holidays.
Cache Valley Bank (Zane Johnson, Katelyn Mason)- Continue to offer no fee business and personal accounts. They work with the SBA and smaller businesses to get them started. They also offer merchant services to help your business. Their Preston location will be moving to a new location soon.
Night of Giving
Saturday, December 7th. Tickets are $50 a person; we have tables that hold 12, 10 and 8 if you would like to reserve a table. This year's theme is Believe. We sold out last year so if you are interested in tickets or a table, let us know ASAP (we have already sold 18 tables so let us know!) We have changed our sponsorship packages to the following prices:
- $600 - 8 Tickets to Event, 8 Golden Ticket Vouchers, 40 Raffle Tickets
- $900 - 8 Tickets to Event, 16 Golden Ticket Vouchers, 120 Raffle Tickets
- $1200 - 8 Tickets to Event, 32 Golden Ticket Vouchers, 200 Raffle Tickets
If you want a sponsorship package with more than a table of 8, we can adjust the price for a table of 10 or 12 by adding the price of the extra tickets to the package. If you know of any families that we can help, check our website to submit the names. Angel Tree donations that are collected at the Rec Center and Stonefire are used for our families as well; Angel Trees are up now! If you have any auction items or donations, please let us know.
Day of the Event - Please drop off your items at 4 pm Friday or between 8:00 am and Noon on Saturday.
