10/03/2024 - Meeting Minutes
AGENDA NOTES
The meeting opened at 12:05 as Darrell Simmons welcomed Chamber Members. Thanks to Stonefire Pizza for hosting the meeting and for being flexible with ordering so that our members can head back to their offices in a timely manner.
Business Reviews
Learning Turtle Preschool (Anita Gerber) - Excited to get involved with the chamber. Will be in Trick or Treat Street.
Stonefire Pizza (Andrew Hansen)- New General Manager - Corey Foreman - to run the day to day business.
The Second Act Literacy Foundation (Steve Cook) - Located in Preston and serves Cache County as well. They are going to start working with the English Learning Center in Logan. Help high school dropouts get GEDs.
Cache Valley Light and Sound/Cache Valley Pest Control (Paul Jenkins) - Let him know if you want to spray for spiders. Want to support your organization and its events. Will be at Trick or Treat Street and looking to put together a Daddy/Daughter Dance on February 15th at Riverwoods Conference Center.
Organizing by Aubri Anne (Aubri Anne Meek) - organizing home and offices. Give her a call.
McDonalds (Bill Peterson, Toni Woods) - One new product - Chicken Big Mac - great and fun new product. They also have a Dulce de Leche frappe. Will be reaching out to schools to host McTeacher Nights to help raise money for schools.
Discover Area Guides (Jack Johnson) - promote local businesses in book and direct mail form. They also have a website. They are branching out to local historical maps to add historical sites as well as businesses to promote your community.
Tom Gibbons Accounting (Tom Gibbons) - Still doing taxes out of his home.
Smithfield Lions Club (Deon Hunsaker) - Blood drive on Monday, October 7th. The Senior Dinner will be on November 9th. Always looking for members.
RJW Graphics (Ben Wagner) - New to the area from Chicago. Offers printing services - business cards, yard signs, whatever you need.
Alpine Cleaning and Restoration (Wayne Moore) - They evaluate your home for water, mold, sewer issues. Please winterize safely - take hoses off the outside of your house.
Birch Creek Elementary (Trudy Wilson) - Going strong and ready for cooler weather. They are now officially the biggest elementary school in the district.
Stapley Accounting (Terri Stapley) - Now is a good time to talk about planning for next year and making plans for how to manage your end of year. Let her know if any friends or family are looking for accounting help.
Smithfield Recreation (Richard Varela) - Super busy - people starting to work out inside as the weather gets cooler. Will be hiring another full time person. Trick or Treat Street - three more doors available. Let him know if you are interested. Should be a great event. Also Turkey Trot is on November 23rd - if you want to put things in race bags to give to the runners. Always looking for sponsors. Fall and winter basketball is gearing up - tournaments, rec ball, adult leagues.
Green Box Solar (Brandon Johnson) - Solar projects, mostly on businesses. Looking to rebrand solar to offer businesses a great investment. Payoff in about 5 years if you own your building.
Zions Bank (Teresa Gwilliam) - Business credit cards - spend $5000 and get $1000 cash back. They are also SBA loan specialists.
Whole Body Health Care (Zach Manwaring)- Lots of new athletes as customers with ozone injections - bridging the gap between conservative care and surgery.
Farmers Insurance (Lily Knudsen) - Happy to be involved in the chamber.
Host Huski (Andrew Davis) - Website host and design. They are looking for 10 people who are interested in people who want graphic design services for $99 a month, including creative and design services, up to three designs a month. Let him know if you are interested.
President Elect Darryl Simmons - We excuse Aimee from attendance today - she had to attend a training meeting. Please invite anyone you think might be interested in attending our Chamber meetings and getting involved in the community through our events.
USU Credit Union (Trevor Larsen) - Rates are coming down. They can modify existing auto loans to lower rates. Lock in your CD rates for savings as well.
Cache Valley Bank (Zane Johnson, Katelyn Mason)- They are focusing on online banking and merchant services so reach out regarding any quotes. Also please let them know if you need to open a new account.
Calendar
- The next deadline for a newsletter ad is October 15th, newsletter will go out in November. The cost of an ad is $100 and includes a social media ad.
- Night of Giving - Saturday, December 7th. Tickets are $50 a person; we have tables that hold 12, 10 and 8 if you would like to reserve a table. This year's theme is Believe. We sold out last year so if you are interested in tickets or a table, let us know ASAP (we have already sold 12 tables so let us know!) We have changed our sponsorship packages to the following prices:
- $600 - 8 Tickets to Event, 8 Golden Ticket Vouchers, 40 Raffle Tickets
- $900 - 8 Tickets to Event, 16 Golden Ticket Vouchers, 120 Raffle Tickets
- $1200 - 8 Tickets to Event, 32 Golden Ticket Vouchers, 200 Raffle Tickets
- If you want a sponsorship package with more than a table of 8, we can adjust the price for a table of 10 or 12 by adding the price of the extra tickets to the package. If you know of any families that we can help, check our website to submit the names. Angel Tree donations that are collected at the Rec Center and Stonefire are used for our families as well; Angel Trees will be up on November 1st. If you have any auction items or donations, please let us know.
- Trick or Treat Street - They have three open doors still available; each door is $80 (one time cost). The doors will not have a logo but you can bring your own signage for the door. Let them know by September 13th. The event will be at Forrester Acres on October 18th from 5-9 pm. They have games and photo ops and it is a great opportunity to teach your kids the safe way to trick or treat on Halloween. They expect about 1000 kids so plan for candy accordingly. Reach out to Richard at the Rec Center if you have any questions.
