Business Reviews

Birch Creek Golf Course (Eric Kleven) - Golf course is open - running summer golf clinics, leagues and tournaments all summer. Beehive Grill is taking over food options and will offer catering.

Smithfield Lion’s Club (Deon Hunsaker) - Very busy Health Days. Billie Buttars installed as new President with Deon moving to 1st VP. Busy with Lion’s Den concession all summer. Sponsoring Cub Scout troop. Lodge is available for rental.

Schreiber’s (Scott Nelson) - Business is good. Eat more cheese.

Preston Watts Collision and Glass (Josh Watts) - Technicians are certified and recently received training on the importance of windshields for safety. They have improved their training to be sure that all windshields will be installed as safe as possible.

Birch Creek Elementary (John Anderson) - Kids are wired. Looking forward to overcast and rainy weather - it helps! All are invited to Leadership Days on May 23rd from 1:30 - 3:00 pm.

Firehouse Pizzeria (Kim Tippetts) - Firehouse specials - Oh Baby Oreo Fhzookie with Aggie Blue Mint ice cream, an Apple-Gorgonzola Salad and a Smoked Pot Roast Sandwich. Wendi Coombs will be eating all her meals there this month! :)

McDonald’s (Bill Petersen) - Their core menu sells the most, but they do have some special items coming in June - Scoop Waffle McFlurry, Tomato/Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich, Grand Extreme Bacon Burger and Cheesy Bacon Fries. So happy to be part of such a great community with good employees. Several take advantage of the college program where they can earn up to $3000 towards college costs.

Sky View High School (Curt Hanks) - Finishing up a great year. Won state in three sports (volleyball, boys basketball and boys soccer). Thanks to all the businesses and community for their support.

Family Place (Wendi Coombs) - Their auction on April 26th was great - raised $160,000. Still promoting BeKindUtah campaign - check their website to report acts of kindness. Looking to record 1,000,000 by June 16th. Also their golf tournament (thanks to Scott Nelson for all the organization!) is coming up on July 9th. Scott will pass along flyers.

Smithfield City (Deon Hunsaker) - The key word is growth. Just approved 32 townhouses with subdivisions going up north and south of town. Also annexing land in the north east area. Arby’s and Green Gorilla Car Wash are coming in just south of Lee’s. Budgeting process is ongoing. City Council candidate filing period is in June.

Golf Tournament Recap

Golf tournament was a great success! We weren’t quite full - had 33 teams - but sold a lot of raffle tickets and raised $5000 for each of the three elementary schools in Smithfield. Thanks to our sponsors, golfers and the schools for all their work and support.

Chamber Scholarship

We awarded three $400 scholarships to Sky View Seniors - Helen Portia, Allison Ramboz and Josh Grunig.
